[Per Press Association.] SIR G. GREY AT AUCKLAND. Auckland, May 23. Sir George Grer addressed a crowded meeting at the Theatre Royal last night. He claimed having forced the Premier to round the Colong and discuss public questions. For himself he would not compromise matters with any party or person. He had the power with the multitude at his back to ring from a reluctant Government, against their will, reforms desired by the people. That was the true power to wield. He would continue to fight for the people’s rights. He discussed a number of subjects touched on by the Premier. He was opposed to all further immigration. The Premier’s proposals re Native lands were similar to his own two years ago. If South and North united, the "Liberal party would secure s majority at the next elections. Resolutions expressing confidence in Sir George Grey as a member for City East and leader of the Liberal party was carried unanimously. Christchurch, May 23. Mr. John Evans Brown, M.H.R., addressed the St. Albans electors last evening, and received a vote of confidence. He did not pledge himself to support a vote of want of confidence. Dunedin, May 23. Mr. Driver received a unaimous vote of confidence at Gore. He gave a flat denial to the statement that he intended to retire from the representation of Hokonui.
