Beach, who refused to row against Hanlon on the Nepean, has now publicly notified his readiness to meet the Canadian oarsman on the Parramatta River, within two months. THE ORIENTAL BANK FAILURE. Melbourne, May 9. The legal counsel in this city have expressed their opinion that the Victorian Government cannot enforce its claims upon the associated banks for any deficiency arising in the public accounts by the failure of the Oriental Bank. The conjoint liability upon which the Government based its claim being nonexistent in point of law.
