A very large gang of extra men were put on to assist in launching the Oreti, and working in relays soon brought her into. a comparative safe position. The weather is fortunately very fine. Dunedin, May 10. Sir Julius Vogel lias received news from London that the Eucla, (Western Australia), railway concession has been revised, and has been returned (o the Crown agents with some alterations. The Albany concession is still unsettled. DRAUGHTS MATCH. Coswell of Christchurch, has agreed to accept the challenge of Mackay of Sydney, for a draught match for £5O or £lOO aside. Coswell is favourable to the match being played in Dunedin in November, when the Interprovincial match takes place. At Palmerston, a young child, playing near a well during its mother’s absence, fell into the well which was 30 feet deep, but a fret petticoat which the boy wore acted as a buoy, and kept him afloat until he was rescued.
