The first day’s racing under the auspices of the South Canterbury Jockey Club took place to-day, with the annexed result: — Wet.teb Handicap. Princess Royal 1 Minerva 2 Holdemees 3 TIMABU STEEPLECHASE. Agent .. 1 Black Doctor 2 Rona 3 This was a grand race. A protest was entered on behalf of Black Doctor, on the ground that Agent’s jockey bore him against the rails. Consideration of the protest was deferred. South Cantebbvav Jockey Club Handicap. Tasman 1 Sou’wester .. .. ..2 Lady Emma 8 This was a grand race, and was won by half a length. Time, 8.125.
