R.M. Court.—The decision in the BarkerMcDonald case is deferred until this day week. Fishing Company.—An adjourned meeting of the Fishing Company will be held to-night at the Albion Club Hotel, at eight o’clock. The Frozen Meat Trade.—The bulk of the shipment of frozen meat ex Garrone, is reported bad. Electoral Rolls.—The R.M., Wellington, has convicted two men under the “ Registration of Electors Act.” Sir George Grey’s Visit.—lt is announced per telegram, that Sir George purposes starting for the South next week. Coal.—The brig Rio Grande, Captain Macquaker, arrived from Newcastle this afternoon, with 320 tons of coal for Mr. H. E. Johnstone. Obituary.—By to-days cables we receive the announcement of the death of the Right Rev. R. Bickersteth, D.D., F.S.S., Bishop of Ripon; and of Walter Francis Montague Douglas Scott, Duke of Buccleuch, K.G., K. T., D.C.L., Ac. U.S.S. Company’s Service.—The Waihora will arrive to-morrow afternoon from Auckland. The last boat will leave the wharf at three o’clock. The Wairarapa will not arrive until Monday morning from the South. Mr. Barker’s Memory.—ln giving his evidence yesterday in the case of McDonald v. Barker, the defendant in reply to Mr. DeLautour said it was a mystery he had any memory left him, taking into consideration the sort of characters he had had to deal with in Poverty Bay. The Sydney Cup.—A telegram from Sydney dated to-day, says: “In the race for the Cup yesterday, soon after the start Martini-Henri broke away and fell, Morpeth coming down on the top of him. Morpeth’s leg was broke, and he has since been destroyed. Martini’s jockey was injured, but the horse itself escaped.”
