The following rearrangement of Ministerial offices is announced :—Mr. Gillies becomes Minister of Public Instruction, and retains portfolio of Public Works. Berry relinquishes Postmaster-Generalship, which will be taken by James Campbell. Thornley, M.L.C., joins Ministry without portfolio. QUARANTINE. Preparations are being made here to quarantine the passengers by the P. and O. steamship Rome, which has arrived at Albany with small-pox on board. Adelaide, April 9. The general elections are now’ proceeding. Glyde, Colonial Treasurer, has been defeated. Bray, Premier, has been re-elected. TAWHIAO IN SYDNEY. Sydney, April 9. Tawhiao visited the Government offices today, and received attention from Ministers who were present. IMPORTANT LEGISLATIVE ENACTMENT. In the Legislative Asshrobly to-night, a Bill, empowering the University Senate to grant additional degrees, and also to confer degrees upon, women was agreed to.
