(AGE SPECIALS.) London, March 19. The rumor is still being persistently circulated that Mr. Gladstone intends to resign his position as Prime Minister, and dissolve Parliament. It is rumored that Major-General Scratchley is to be appointed Her Majesty’s High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, in succession to Sir A. Gordon, who retired last November. A company is being floated, to be known as the London aud Colonial Meat Company, with a capital of

£500,000. The object of the company is to supply its members with colonial frozen meat at cheap rates. The general public will also be eupplied, and meat will be supplied from the company's establishment in carts specially constructed for the purpose. Admiral Heratt, at present at Soualiim, has issued a notice ordering the whole of the slaves who ran aw’ay since the commencement of the insurrection, to return to their masters. THE SOUDAN. COWARDLY CONDUCT OF THE EGYPTIAN TROOPS. [Reuters Telegrams.] Cairo, March 30. Telegrams from the Soudan state that Gordon Pasha made a sortie from Khartoum on the 16th inst., at the head of a strong force of Egyptian troops. ' New York, March 30. .A serious riot has occurred at Cincinnati. An immense mob, indignant at the leniency of the verdict returned against a prisoner who had been tried for murder, attacked and burned the prison in which the convict was placed. A force of United States troops were called out to protect the prison, and a serious conflict ensued between the military and rioters, who exhibited desperate courage, and refused to yield until a large number had been shot down. Fully one hundred persons were killed, and three hundred are suffering from wounds of a serious nature. The event has caused much excitement and alarm throughout the city and in the neighborhood.
