Weirerape, from Auckland, may be expected about noon toJhe Southern Cross, from Auckland, will arrive in the Bay early this morning, Brexit Dbjsogs.—The steam dredge Crocodile, built at Glasgow for the Melbourne Harbor Trust, arrived in Hobson's Bay on Dec. 97, after a voyage of seven months. She steamed from the Clyde on 28th May, calling at Gibraltar, Malta, Port Said, Sues, Aden, Colombo, Singapore, Shark’s Bay, and Albany- The voyage to Colombo was performed with fine weather, but on her way to Freemantle the S.E. trades proved sb strong that she had to return to Singapore to take in another supply of coat, the machinery being overhauled st the same time. Strong winds prevailed during the passage from Albany, but the dredge reached ths Bay without any mishap, and proceeded up the river in charge of a harbor-pilot. The dredge, which Was fitted with temporary masts for the purpose of steadying Her on the vovage out, will be dismantled at once, and then docked. Whilst being cleaned, she will be put in Working order, The new dredge is on the same pattern ns the Bunyip, at work in the Bay. She is, however, of larger dimensions, and has been fitted with special appliances by which a greater depth can be dredged, and stiffer substances removed than is the case with the Bunyip, The material employed in her construction is of the best description, while the workmanship is reported to be equally good.”
