MATAWHERO SCHOOL.
The annual general meeting of the above was held at Matawhero last night, upwards of seventy householders being present. Mr. Common was called to the chair and read the annual report and balance-sheet (a copy of which will appear in our next) which was audited by Mr. Murchie, and passed. The proceedings were greatly interrupted by that bugbear Mr. Thos. Wright until the welcome interference of Messrs. Gruner and Murray, who were successful in removing the obstructionist to a more fitting sphere. The following gentlemen wer then proposed as a committe for the ensuing year Messrs. D. Malone, A. Grey, D. Murchie, P. Richardson, S. Stevenson, T. Pardoe, H. J. U’Ben, W. King, R. M. Steggall, F. K. Parker, and Thos. Wright. On the votes having been scrutinised by Messrs* Thelwall and Read the first seven gentlemen were declared duly elected. The committee at once held a meeting and elected Mr. D. Murchie their chairman. This closed the business and the meeting adjourned.
