R. M. COURT GISBORNE.

(Before J. Booth, Esq., R.M.) WEDNESDAY. hRVSKESNBBS. A native named Nata Te Kani was brought up charged with the above offence whilst in charge of a horse. The prisoner pleaded guilty, and was fined £1; in default, 47 hours' imprisonment. HABBOB BOARD V. W. B. JOHSBTOHX. This case was adjourned, by consent of both sides, for another fortnight. GRAVE OFVKNCK. Bobert Greenaway was brought up, charged with a grave offence on one May M. Walker. Mr. Nolan appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. DeLautour and Mr. G. K, Turton for the defence. After the prosecutrix and a number of other witnesses bad been examined, Mr. DeLautour addressed the Court, and said he did not think it necessary to call any evidence for the defence. He then commented strongly on tbe conduct of the prosecutrix, and asked the Ooart to dismiss' trie cbargs against the accused. Hia Worship agreed with Mr, DeLautour as to there being nothing to go to a jury, and in tbe course of some well-timed remarks, said that no words could be too strong in deprecating the action of allowing a young girl like the prosecutrix to live alone in euoh a place, entirely unprotected. He would diemiss the charge. The Court then rose at 5.80 until 10.30 to-day.
