LAST NIGHT’S WIRES.
[Per United Press Association.] Cbristcht-rch. Den. 19. The unemployed held a meeting this morning and resolved to adhere to their refusal to accept 4s 61 per day. The following gentlemen were installed Mayors to-day :—Hr ■ '. P. Hulbert, Christchurch ; Mr VV. White, Sydenham ; and Mr J. L. Wilson, St. Alban’s. nIANGAN.ni, Dec. 19. The Rev. Father Moreau, who has been a priest of the Gatin,lie Church in New Zealand for many years, and was formerly in charge of the present diocese of Dunedin, died here this morning, aged 71 years. He had been up the river for a few mouths, instituting a new church amongst the Maoris at Jerusalem, and being ill came down to town, where, after a, mouth in bed, he succumbed.
