Wheat is stead}' at the following prices : Adelaide, ex store, 46s ; New Zealand ditto, 38s 6d to 43s 6d. Adelaide flour, ex warehoufe, 325. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,810,000 quarters, a decrease of 440,000 quarters as compared with last week.

Scotch pig-iron has fallen 6d per ton, and is now quoted at 57s f.o b. in the Clyde. Galvanised iron, 26 guage, packed in cases, f.o.b. in London, £lB 10s. At to-day’s wool sale, 11,200 bales were offered. Prices continue firm.

A portion of the cargo offr-zen mntton by the Fenstanton, from Lyttelton, was placed in the market to-day, and realised 6d per pound. The Woodlark, one of the gun vessels of the East Indim station, lias been ordered to Soukin, on the coast of the Red Sea, fears b ing entertained that another attack may be made upon the Egyptian garrison stationed there.

Dec. 8. There is no change to report in the markets for Colonial securities or produce. The Colonial wool sales closed to-day with a hardening tendency in prices generally. During the series 150,000 bales have been sold, and 10,000 bales held over ftr next sales.

The Homeward mails, via Suez and Brindisi, dated Melbourne, Oct. 25, were delivered yesterday. A portion of the cargo of mutton, ex Lusitania, was sold to-day at the average price of 5{ per lb. The meat is in good condition. The British Government have agreed to the presence of Turkish frigates in the Red Sea, where they have been ordered to rendezvous by the Porte, provided the Turkish Squadron is ordered to co-operate with British war-vessels now cruising off the Eastern Coast of Egypt. Dec. 9. It has transpired that Mr, Arthur W. Peel, Liberal member for Warwick, and the representative since 1865 of that constituency in the House of Commons, has expressed his willingness to be nominated for the Speaker’s Chair, vacant by the resignation of Sir H. B. VV. Brand. Madrid, Deo. 8. Prince Frederick William, German Crown Prince, who is now on a visit to King Alfonso, will return to Berlin, via Rome, and will then pay a visit to His Holiness Pope Leo XIII. Parts, Dec. 8. The parleying which for some time past has been proceeding between Tseng and Ferry in regard to the Tonquin difficulty, is still proceeding. Nothing, however, is definitely known regarding the progress which has been made with the negotiations. Washington, Dec. 8. A deputation of Members of the United States Congress have petitioned President Arthur to obtain from the British Government a respite for O’Donnell, convicted of the murder of James Carey, and upon whom sentence of death was passed on the Ist inst. Constantinople, Dec. 7. Tn consequence of the excited and fanatical state of the native tribes in Upper Egypt, the Porte has ordered several frigates to rendezvous in the Red Sen, with the view of cooperating with the Egyptian troops now operating against the rebel Arabs.
