CORRESPONDENCE.

(We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents). :o: BAD ROAD. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In wet weather the portion of the road from Mr White’s towards Wuiroa, for about a mile and a-half, has always for years past I been the dread of the travelling public, and almost an entire obstruction to stock-drovers on account of its muddy state, but it has become more so since the box culverts have been put in without having been fascined on each side, and they have become altogether dangerous to horses. I am not a Cook County man, and consequently do not know whose duty it is to see to these roads, but may be permitted to draw the attention of the Cook County Council to the fact above mentioned I may also state that if a table were dug for about five chains or so on the Wairoa side of the Waihau Lakes, it would greatly improve that portion of the road which is now quite impassible for horses or cattle, —I am &c.,

A Drover. Waerengakuri Camp, Nov. 3rd, 1883.
