SPORTING.
A scratch cricket match, single innings, was !ot up this morning between the Commercial 'revellers and a Gisborne Eleven. The Commercials having won the toss, went in first, and scored 44 to the bowling of Messrs Thelwall and Nolan. The locals then went in,(and at the dose the score stood at 88, the locals thus being declared the victors. At the sale of Mr Stephen Nosworthy’s breeding stud, at Enfield last week, Mr M. H. Smith bought a filly of Fables for 20 guineas, also the 2 year old colt, Cynic, by Albany.
