TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l beg to correct your report of the case Egens v. Boland, tried on Tuesday last, in the Resident Magistrate’s Court. You state that Mr Boland’s cross-examination tended to show that I had not worked the time set forth in the claim, and likewise had neglected my work; also that judgment was given for the defendant. In justice to Mr Boland, I beg to state that he never tried to show that I neglected my work, for the simple reason that I never gave him cause to ; nor is it true that judgment was for the defendant. The truth is I got judgment for 5s and costs.—l am, 4c., L 8. Egene, Makaraka, Nov. 1, 1883. ‘ ■ TO THE EDITOR, Sib,—Can you tell me why your content- ■ porary the “ Herald " systematically falsifies 1 in its columns, information relating to the ’ Native Land Court. In its last evening's issup it says the Court was not opened on Monday " as all the rivers being swollen by the heavy rains the Native applicants were unable to cross them.” As a matter of fact the Court teas opened, The attendance of Natives was considerable. Among the Europeans wee Mr W. L. Rees who appeared ana made the amende honorable to the Court—but that’s nothing. For weeks past the “ Herald " has given misleading information respecting the Native Land| Court. I do not .blame the proprietors for this—but their sources of information are not reliable. There is yet, notwithstanding the " Herald," much important work to be disposed of by the Native Land Court. The most importants< blo.-k in the district, so fur as the general public are concerned, has not yet been properly touched—l refer to Kaiti. Although it 1. has been a good deal mauled about that block has still to come on before the Court, I need not enumerate other blocks. Please advise your oontempooary to report truthfully otherwise abandon .the task—but bo merciful.—l am, to, Amvi.
