VOLUNTEER PRIZE FIRING RULES.
Thi sum of £BOO having been voted by the General Assembly for prizes, the amount has been divided pro rata amongst the Volunteer Corps, according to the nominal •trength on the 31st of August. The amount apportioned, under the arrangement to Gisborne is aaults £7 2s od. Ordnance £7 2s Gd ; total £l4 ss. The whole sum voted having been set apart for prizes, no claim for marking, Ac., can be entertained' The amounts allocated to each district are to be divided into such prizes, and competed for at such ranges as may be agreed upon by a committee composed of the officers commanding the district, and not less than two senior volunteer officers as members. The firing for these prizes must be In accordance with the general rules published. The competitions to take place at such times as may be directed by commanding officers, and to be concluded before the Slat of December, Returns showing the conditions under which competitions took place, the names of the prize winners, and the several amounts of the prizes together with the full scores of all competitors, are to be sent to the Under Secretary for Defence not later than Januarj T 15th, 1884.
