INDUSTRIAL AND FINE ARTS EXHIBITION.

A meeting of those interested in the promotion of a Fine Art and Industrial Exhibition took place last night, in the Library Rooms. There was a fair attendance. Mr Sigley (in the chair) read the advertisement convening the meeting, and stilted that the I Committee’s idea lit calling it was < to help the library and advance the Exhibi- 'I tion» He thought the Exhibition would be the Sadie as last year, It would comprise in addition, juvenile exhibits and alao an Ait Union. He presumed the object of thia meeting was to form sub-oommittees for conducting the different departments. It Hl proposed to keep the Exhibition open for it week. In reference to the Juvenile fiv.kiibition, Messrs Featon and Botirke, Of the Library Committee) agreed to assist in the matter ae much as possible Mi' Featon handed In the rules o! the Paramatta Juvenile Exhibition, and stated that 21 was the state age for juveniles. Hb thought it might be reduced to 18. Mr M'Kay said that Mr Featoii had already made out a list of persons lot a sub committee. He would propose that they be read and approved of by the meetMr Featon than read the list ho hadY made out te the five different offices neousary as follows :—

Sigley ; Hon Treasurers, G. H. Featon, and H. McKay, Executive Committee—Rev. |J McAra, T J Pinfold, J Sigley, E H Ibaton, J Bourne, D Kurtain, W P Finneran, D Johnston, J Warren, C W Ferris, P Parau, R Cooper, D Murchie, E Harris, E Bullock, J Smail, Dr Pollen and J W Johnstone, with power to add to the number. He had spoken to several gentlemen with • regard to Maori exhibits, and they had I agreed to collect as many as they could. The Chairman stated that at the last exhibition there were 9 departments, each of which had a eub-Committte. He supposed the «ame would be required for the coming exhibition, and yet he did not think it necessary, as some of the departments might be grouped. A sub-Committee for the Juvenile Exhibition had already been appointed, and comprised Dr Pollen, J. Bourke, Morgan, Harris, Bull, Sigley, and Johnston.

Dr Pollen did not think a great number was required on the Committees, The election of a sub-Committee now took place for managing the Art Union, and the following were duly elected s— Messrs Fea, ton, Sigley, E. K. Brown, D. Johnston, and Dr Pollen. In reply to Mr McKay, the Chairman ' mentioned that he had written for perm!.cion to hold an Art .Union, and expected a reply shortly. Mr Featon did not think the prizes for th» juveniles ought to bo extensive. He had put down 8 for boys, and 8 for girl.. Mr J, Bourke suggested that only one Committee be appointed to collect the prim., The Chairman said it was understood that 7 the Art Union would provide some of the prizes.

It was decided to hold the next general Commitee meeting this day week, and that the arrangement of exhibits in Department* be curried out as follows i—
