POVERTY BAY HOSPITAL.
A special committee meeting of the above Committee was held last night in the Court House for the purpose of receiving tenders for supplies for the ensuing year. Mr H. McKay said he did not bring down . the conditiods as they were the same as last year. He wished to know if the lowest in the aggregate was to be accepted or not. / Mr Adair thought it was bettor to take each item separately, and that the man who was lowest in each of those articles which are most in demand be accepted. The tenders were next opened and resulted as follows : — Bread—Mr W. Adair, the only tender received, accepted. For Meat—Mr J. Aislabie, offering to supply it at 2‘i per lb all round, and Messrs. Th el wall & Co., for The former was accepted. Groceries—Messrs. W. Adair, Parnpll A Boylan, and Teat & Fryer tendered. After a great amount of diacussion, it was resolved to accept the latter. Wood and Coal, Messrs. Teat and Fryer being slightly lower than H. E. Johnston, their tender was accepted. - - Ales, winesand spirits, Messrs Teat and j Fryer's tender was also accepted for this. Mr Adair withdrew his as being too cheap. This was all the business. /
