CANINE SAGACITY.

Canine sagacity has been curiously and forcibly illustrated by a black retriever, which about ten days since was found one morning patiently waiting for admission to the Homoepathic Dispensary, South Tay-street Dundee. When the door was opened he limped on three feet into the waitingroom, lay down on his right side, and held up the left hind foot, which was so severely crushed that part of it was hanging oS, the bone being exposed. Notwithstanding the intense pain the dressing must have given him, he showed his appreciation of Dr Howison’s services by not only holding his foot perfectly still, and every now and again licking his hands, but by returning alone daily, and sometimes waiting at the door for hours, until one evening he returned to have the morning dressing removed, it having been of a somewhat painful kind, and when bandages were again applied he refused to allow them to remain, limped away, and never returned. He had on one occasion been taken to Dr Howison’s house, and on Sunday he went there when he found the dispensary closed.
