To Travel the District this Seaton, the CLYDESDALE STALLION SIU JULIES VOGEL SIR JULIUS VOGEL, by imported Major, out of Kate, the Champion Prize Mure of Christchurch and Dunedin. Sir Julius Vogel was bred by Mr Holly, of Christchurch, the breaker of Champion, who also gained First Prize three years in succession at the Auckland Show. Bib Julius is a horse of great hair, bone, and substance, and for action has no equal of his clasp. Imported Major was bred in England, and sold to the late John Commode, of Tasmania, for £lOOO, and then purchased by the late Beu Newel, Esq., for the sum of £l3oo,‘for New Zealand, where his stock are deemed, in Auckland and Wanganui, the guinea stamp at first sight, without further investigation. He is now in Canterbury, where stock owners often ride thirty hnd forty miles to see Major, and good judges say that Major is the most perfect horse that ever left Englund. The famed Nugget, in Waikato, is by Major, and Mr T. Greg’s Young Major, at Wanganui. The greatest, favorite in all that part is a son to the renowned old horse : the beet mares north and south trace decent to Major; likewise the prize-takers at the Auckland Show for many years. Sir JI’LIVS is now rising 7 years old. As a proof of Major’s quality, Kate, the Champion Prize Mare of Canterbury and Otago (where good Clydesdale stock is appreciated), was muted to the renowned chesnut, Old Major.
