CORRESPONDENCE.

We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents]. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The question I intended to ask at the lat-i meeting of candidates was whether they would be in favor of retrenchment in tinworking of the departments of the Borough. Tne total of expenditure for salaries, permanent charges, and incidental, is over £9OO, while our revenue is about £2,200 on the general fund account, the rates being about £1,400, the balance of revenue being obtained from publican s and other licenses, &c. I hope that the candidates returned will give this matter their attention. —L am etc. J Mbs Rosie.
