Replying to question*- Ministers said that when the railway employees a'seated them* ■elves for the purpose of voting, the time was deducted from their wages. Governtnent proposed nett cession to bring in a bill afford fncreasad encouragement tor planting forest trees. Government would consider the advisability of removing Supreme Court judges from time to time from one district to another. Government could not promise tn.endowment for Wairoa harbor, but would have no objection to a bill vesting the pilot reserve and foreshore in the Harbor Board. Ethnin*?. The House went into Committee on the Native Land Laws Bill. . Mr Bryce moved a new clause m lieu of Clause fj, to fegulate th«J negotiations for land after the title has been ascertained. After some discussion Air Bryces new clause was added to t’.e Bill. He then moved a Series of tweve new clauses, having for their object the removal of power from the Government of dispensing with restntilions on alienation uf Ends, and vesting the bower in the hands of the Chief Judge of Native Lauds Court This would prevent charges of corrupt practice being made againsst Government
