WAERENGA-A-HIKA JOCKEY CLUB.

Tki adjourned meeting of the above Club took place at the Masonic Hotel on Saturday afternoon last. Present Messrs Caulton, Ferds, Ratcliffe, Devery, Cooper, Austin, Maynard, Aklabie. Nasmith. Page, wd Milk, Mr Cat’.lton read a letter from Mr Montathe Smith stating thrt through unavoidable Bbience from Gisborne, he was. compelled to „ resign his Secretaryship to the Club. He next stated that the funds in hand Amounted f to £ll2 ns against £.56 last year. ' The selection of the Committee for the busing year was next proceeded with, and after antunberhad been proposed, seconded, <nd balloted for* the scrutineer (Mr Ferris) . declared the following gentlemen duly Sleeted :—Messrs Page, Aislabie, Nasmith, Maynard, Cooper, Bloomfield, and Mills. Mr Aislabie having 1 een elected to the Chair, the Committee pi-oceeded to consider the disqualification of A.kins as trainer or jockey, which had been passed on him bv the Poverty Bay Turf Club. After fully discussing the matter, th? committee decided to endorse the decisi n of the Poverty Bay Turf Club. Mr Maynard proposed, and Mr Cooper seconded, that an unanimous vote of thanks be given to Mr M. Smith for his zealous ana energetic services whilst Secretary to the Club, and that the present Secretary be instructed to transmit a copy of the resolution, and an acknowledgement of his letter to him.—Carried unanimously. Mr Nasmith proposed, and Mr Page seconded, that Mr Aislabie be Hon. Secretary and Treasurer.—Carried. The programme for the ensuing meeting was then gone into, when it was decided in the event of two horses coming to the post full stakes would be awarded, and, with one or two special exceptions, all second horses to save stakes. The nominations to be reduced to £l, acceptances £2. Proposed by Mr Nasmith, seconded by Mr Page, that the definition of Hack shall in future mean all horses that have not won any handicap or weight for age race.— Carried.

Proposed by Mr Maynard, and seconded by Mr Cooper that the Boxing Day Handicap Stakes be raised from 50 to 75 sovs, distance, 2 miles ; nomination., 2 sovs; acceptances, 3 sovs, and 1 eov. at post.— The Belling Race for 20 sovs was struck out, and * Ladies Bracelet Race of the value of 25 sovs, Handicap, welter weight, gentlemen riders, nominations 1 sov. and acceptances 1J save, substituted. The whole of the programme was then arranged, and the stakes in several events It was unanimously resolved that the protest fee be raised from £3 to £5. All nominations to be in by the last Saturday in October, Weights to be out by the last Saturday in November. Acceptances to be declared ten days before the meeting. Mr Maynard proposed, and Mr Mills seconded that Mr Devery be appointed hand icapper .—Carried, The following gentlemen were appointed StewardsMr Mill vice Mr McKenzie, retired; and Mr Wyllie vice Mr Carden, retired. \ At the suggestion of Mr Mills it was pror nosed that the Poverty Bay Turf Club be L invited to join the Club in obtaining a set of blue gum hurdles to be constructed by tender. Mr D. Page generously offered some trees for the same. The total amount allotted for stakes was £2lO 10s, being upwards of £3O over last year. It was resolved that the totalisator fee be net under £l. The next meeting of the Club to be held the last week in September. It was resolved that tenders be called for the advertising and printing. The revised programme will appear shortly.
