LAND NATIONALISATION SOCIETY.

■ A meeting of the above Society was held i last Tuesday evening in the Good Templar’s ' Hall, Bright-street. I'lig minutes of the last meeting having been read and confirmed, the Secretary reported an addition of fifteen now members since last meeting ; also, that branches of 1 tho Association were being established in every town in New Zealand. An original paper was now read by a member, showing clearly tho evils of the present laud tenure, and proposing certain schemes to mitigate those evils. The paper was keenly criticised by the members present. The President then reviewed the Land Amendment Bill now before Parliament, introduced by Mr Rolleston. The meeting declared themselves strongly in favor of the Bill, and hoped that the measure would become law, The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman. The next meeting of the Society was left to be convened by tho Executive. The annual general meeting of the above Society will be held at the Society’s office, Lowe Street, at 7.30 p in. on Friday, August 2nd, when the following business will be transacted ;—To receive Directors report and statement of accounts ; to elect three directors and shareholder’s ; and general business.
