RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.—GISBORNE.
[Before J. Booth, Esq., R.M.] Saturday, 28th July. Grossman v. S. J. S. R. Bromley and Eliza Wilmore, alias Mrs Bromley. This was an action to recover the sum of £8 15s, for a set of false teeth. Mr Finn appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Robinson for defendant. Mr Finn, in stating the case, said the teeth were supplied for Miss Wilmore, alias Mrs Bromley. If this female now living with Bromley was his wife, then he was liable; if not, then she was liable.
Sidnev Josias Rowley J, Bromley, on being sworn, declined to say whether the female in question was his wife or not. The defence was that the teeth were of no use. Some delay here occurred on Miss Wilmore, ah'tM Mrs Bromley, being called. She not being in Court, Josias went to fetch her' In his absence Mr Nolan asked his Worship to grant a speedy summons against the defendant in this case for the sum of £5 4d due to Dufaur & Co., as he believed he was about to leave the district by the boat that day.--Granted. Miss Willmore’s appeaeance in the Court was the signal for a “ hum of admiration.” Another difficulty now’ arose as Mr H. C. Wilson, who was required to identify Eliza, was now absent. His Worship said he could wait no longer and gave judgment for the amount £8 15s ahd costs L2 2s with speedy judgment summons. His Worship ordered that the amount £lO 17s and costs £2 15s, be paid by 4 p.m. in default 14 days imprisonment. Dufaur & Co. v. Bromley. Claim L 5 4d for advertising and printing, Mr Nolan for plaintiff. Defendant did not appear. Judgment was given for the amount claimed and costs LI 12s, wfth a speedy summons to be returnable at 2 p.m, Drunkenness, W, Thompson was fined LI and L2 8s expenses for the above offence.
