Owners of horses are reminded that norninations for the Guineas ami Mares Produce Stakes, close to-day, July 31. The following proposal (received per favor of Mr F. D. Luckie) suggested by the Committee of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club has been made with the object of providing for the more uniform conduct of horseracing in New Zealand —lt is desirable that the undernamed Clubs should form them* selves into an Association-to be called “ The New Zealand Racing Association”—Auckland Racing Club, Canterbury Jockey Club, Dunedin Jockey Club, Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club, Marlborough Racing Club, Taranaki Jockey Club, Vvanganui Jockey Club, Wellington -Jockey Club. The chief objects of the Association shall be—lst. The preparation of a comprehensive set of rules tor the proper guidance and general conduct of horse-racing throughout New Zealand } such rules to include the necessary regulations for the guidance of hurdle racing and steeplechasing as well as racing on the flat. 2nd. To undertake the publication of a Racing Calendar, monthly, in which all programmes must be advertised and other announcements made, such as disqualifications, &c. 3rd. Such other matters as may be deemed necessary ; for instance, keeping a register of colors, assumed names, jockeys, Ac., for the Colony also, the annua! publication of a Turf Register.
