Southern Cross Petroleum Company.

The following report ig taken from the Christchurch “ Press ”of July 26 An adjourned meeting of !|he shareholders of the shareholders of the above Company was held at the Queen’s Hotel fast evening, Mr. E. Fox, senior, occupied the chair, and there was a fair attendance. The Chairman stated that he had communicated with Mr. Spackman, the Chairman of the Directors, and had received a reply which stated that the Directors coula not see their way to attend what they considered an informal meeting, but would be happy to answer any questions at the next half-yearly meeting on or about August 13th. Mr. T. B. Craig proposed a resolution to the effect that Mr. Spackman’s letter be acknowledged with regret, end while sympathising with the Directors in their dtk-mma in having two managers, the meeting respectfully urged that no more expenditure be incurred in buying a second boring plant till after the general meeting Cn August 13th. This motion was seconded by Mr. Webber and carried unanimously. It was also resolved, on the motion of Mr. Wickes, that the foregoing resolution be forwarded to Mr. Sparkman, and that he be informed that the cvnvtaers were aware of the informal nature of the meeting, their object being to have matters considered in a friendly way, and, if necessary, to ask the Direct--rs to convene a general meeting. The proceedings then terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
