BIG RIVER FETE.
On Saturday evening the notified festival to celebrate the opening of Mr. Ned Devery's Hotel at Pakirikiri duly occurred. Those present seemed determined to heartily erioy themselves, and were afforded every opportunity of so doing. A largo tent doing temporary duty as a circui, &c., had been erected, in which the brothers, Nelson, exhibited their really very clever and artistic feats, on the single and double trapesc. Unfortunately Ihe audience was somewhat limited, but those present testified by ready applause of each feat, their thorough appreciation of the efforts made for their amusement. The Rev. Mr. Toodles ride completed the entertainment, Mr. Devery supporting the character of groom. The performance over, an adjournment was made to the hotel, and the evening was concluded in the usual convivial manner, all present, despite unsurmountable drawbacks, having thoroughly enjoyed themselves in a most hearty manner, and to their complete satisfaction. Long may he wave.
