WIFE DESERTION RE BROMLEY.
TO THE EDITOR, SfR, —Referring tu the above case, I may inform you that thia afternoon Mr. Snyder Browne requested Captain Chrisp to publish tho letters received in Court referring to the above caso. Captain Chrisp deolined to publish them, whereupon Mr. Browne stated he would forward them to the STANDARD for publication, and also a letter explaining how Captain Chrisp tried to suppress them He nl*o stated that ho waa determined to sever his connection with the “ Herald ” in future, whereupon the honourable Captain Chrisp felt sorry and recalled his words by stating that rather than be exposed he would publish them, Such is the public spirit fq often before displayed by the nuted “ Herald,” I am, &c.» Not a w*ifb Deserter. [We wish to state that we do not require Air, Browne or any one else to point out our duty to the public, We know but one course, and that is expressed in the one word “ straight.” We are indebted to Mr. Kenny’s courtesy for the letters.—E.P.B.
