ORMOND LETTER.

(From our own Correspondent.) The Ball to be held in Bruce’s Hall, in aid of the Hospital, on the 27th, promises to be a success, should the weather keep fine, and as it is for a really deserving institution. I shall expect to see a crowded house. T). A. McLeod has very nearly completed his contract with the River Board, and the success of his efforts, is beginning to show itself. The river is commencing to work its way across to the other side, and the first fresh that comes will carry it still further. Mr. Haig expects to make a start wfith the mill about Thursday or Friday next. The contractor for falling the trees, commenced operations last week. When it is in full swing again it will make the township far more lively. Teddy Thompson has been busy lately, having a lot of young horses to break in for harness and saddle. Mr. White, the rew proprietor of Combemere Farm, has been busy for the last two weeks, preparing a part of his property for hop growing, and as the soil is suitatable for hop-farming, he expects to reap a good crop. We have a service of song every Sunday evening in the Ormond School Room, under the of Mr. H. Higgins. The attendance is steadily increasing.

The Ormond Band has again been revived under the leadership of Mr. Henry Higgins. It now number* nine members, but it will be some time before they are able to turn out in public, some of them being only beginners in the act.
