M. R, MILLER’S REPORT, Wh quote the following from Mr M. R. Miller’s Hawke’s Bay Stock and Station Re. port, for the month of February, 1883 s— During the last fortnight of thia month things have decidedly improved, as we have had some splendid showers, In fact, the last week of wet weather has made a great change in the aspect of the country, the grass having sprung up in every direction, making it look more like spring than early autumn, and the grass will get a good start before the frosts come. Owing to large blocks of country being taken up in Poverty Bay and Tologa Bay a large number of sheep have left for those districts, and a large number are bought for delivery next month. There has been a good demand for prime fat wethers, and we have been able to place a good number at from 12s to 13s according to weight and time of delivery, In store wethers several lots have changed hands at satisfactory prices. In crossbred ewes there is a good and increasing demand, and we have placed a large number during the month. Merino ewes are selling well, and young sheep are very scarce. In wethers there is very Utile demand except for young sheep, and there are very few of them in the market. There is not much doing in cattle, but a deal more enquiry during the last fortnight, and I expect to see them selling well during next month.

The following are the quotations for stock :

Station Pkofbrtixs. —Thore is more enquiry for properties, leasehod and freehold gartially broken in, and several intending ivestors have communicated their intention of inspecting several properties next month, Messrs Royse, Stead & Co., have sold to Mr M. R. Miller, all their in terest in the Turiroa property Wairoa County, 9263 acres freehold, Ac., with about 20,000 sheep, hordes, cattle and plant at a mutually satisfactory price. Mr John Gemmell still retains his interest as station managing partner of this property.

Wool—At the London sales which began on the 20th inst., a good and active demand was experienced. From Melbourne Messrs Goldsborough and Co., report good prices going for fine wools, merino bringing up to Is Ifd, and crossbred up to Is IJd. For some seasons past the weekly telegrams of Messrs Goldsbrough and Co. ’s wool sales at Melbourne have reported sales up to very high prices in the grease compared with the London rates, and many of our sheepfarmers have Iraen anxious to know something of the class of wool that has been so largely favored in that market.
