Booth, Esq., R.M.] 1 Alfred Weston was charged on the j information of the police with being drunk and disorderly in a public place fc on the 2nd inst. i Mr Kenny, who appeared for the t defend ant. pleaded guilty to the charge. ' After hearing the constables who arrested him, His Worship- fined the defendant £l, or in default 48 hours s imprisonment. r Alfred Weston was then charged : with obstructing and resisting the poE lice in the execution of their duty on ’ the 2nd inst. i Mr Kenny pleaded not guilty. i Several witnesses were called in ! this case, but could not prove auy- ' thing, and therefore the defendant J was discharged. ; JOHN AISLABIE V. WILLIAMS. i The defendant wits charged on the plaintiff’s information with using abui sive and indecent language in a public , place at Waerenga a-hika, on the 20th ■ February. The defendant pleaded not ’ guHty. I Mr Kenny appeared for the plaintiff. , ! Mr Aislabie deposed that the de- ■ ; fendant had used foul and threatening i language to him on the 20th February, • \on the Racecourse at Waerenga-a- • ; hika, before a number of people, in- . eluding females. ■ ■ Mr Berry corroborated the former ! witness's evidence. The defendant called one witness, , after whose evidence he acknowledged ! that he had used the language stated, but had received provocation for so j doing; that the plaintiff owed him I money and would not pay it, and that ' he was angry on that account, j His Worship said he would fine the I defendant £5 and costs, or in default [ of immediate payment, two weeks’ imj prisonment. POLICE V. KAPIA. I Kapia was charged on the informa- j j tion of Sergeant Bullen with the lar- ■ | ceny of a saddle and bridle. I The prisoner pleaded not guilty, but the evidence which was adduced went to prove that the prisoner had committed a larceny, and in accordance ; His Worship ordered the prisoner to ; be imprisoned for one month in the ! Gisborne gaol.
