The following is clipped from a Brisbane paper : —" A sweet little story of the Australian in England is just to hand. The colonial born son of a wealthy squatter was ‘ doing the old country a while ago, and whilst in the Midland counties was invited to a hunt. Duly equipped he appeared at the appointed place fully determined to give the dub an idea of what Australian riding is like. In time the fox was unearthed, and away went hounds and hunters. They had but fairly started when our young friend, putting his horse into full gallop, takes the lead ; as he approaches the hounds the yells and curses of the hunts' men are both loud and deep. He heeds them not, but plunges on, and amid the cries of dogs and men he gallops after the fox. In another minute he is alongside his prey and jerks out his stirrup leather : one knock on the head closes the career of Reynard. Then our noble hunter awaits the congratulations of the company. and when to his surprise they complain that lie has spoilt the day’s sport they can but forgive his offence as he innocently explains, ' Why : that’s the way we serve tbe dingoes in Queensland.’ His education touch- 1 ing the difference between foxes and dingoes I had been wolfully neglected.”
