(PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION). DUNEDIN, This Day. John Doyle, a man following the occupation of carpenter at a farm in Lake Wanaka district, was arrested last Thursday on a charge of having fired a revolver at one Angus J. Robertson with intent to do him grievous bodily harm. It seems that the men were just about returning home between 11 and 12 o’clock on Wednesday night, when Doyle suddenly rushed out of his room with revolver and presenting it close to Robertson’s head pulled the trigger ; the cap snapped, but fortunataly the chamber was empty; finding this Doyle made a dai*h at Robertson’® face with the weapon and hit him a nasty blow. The revolver was taken from the assailant by a witness of the assault. On examination it was found that the revolver was loaded in three chambers, the others being empty. The hammer falling on one of these latter undoubtedly saved Robertson’s life, as the muzzle was held within a few inches of his head.
