The firing of three detachments of the J B ittery of Artillery Volunteers took place on Saturday last on the banks of the Waekanae. There were six shots fired by each detachment, three of shot and three of shell. The direction of the firing was good, and, looking at the target from the steamer, themajority of the shots appeared to go over the target. The result of the days firing will be made known on the day appointed for the prize firing, and the elevation when disclosed will probably be reduced. At seven o’clock to-night it is particularly requested that all intending members will roll up at the Drill Shed for the purpose of being enrolled.
