The following report ha* been received by the Chairman of th* local Board“ Wednesday, 3 p.m. Drive pipe down 101 ftot, 6 inches; strata sensibly harder and not of such a swelling nature as previously. A stoppage occurred on Tuesday, owing to fracture of th* band wheel shaft; a naw one was speedily made, and work resumed. The pipe* are going down easily, and perfectly plumb. Messrs G. Stubbs, D. Isles, Reid, Glynn, and Banbury have just returned from th* Company’s works, and express themselves ss being highly pleased at the progress mads.
