After this, Mr J. P. Joyce gave a statement with reference to what he had aacertained wi'.h reference to the estate in question when he was recently at Napier. . A long discussion then took place as tot what was the best course to pursue under'' the circumstances. They eventually came to the conclusion that it would be preferable to give Mr Davies his discharge in HeU of the deed of arrangement which had beett advertised. Mr McAuley proposed, and Mr John Brown seconded, “That the bankruptcy be annulled, and that it be changed into a deed of arrangement, so that the debtor might have twelve months to pay his debts. The motion was put and lost, it being understood that Mr Davis would make an application for his final discharge. It was discussed by those present as to whether the bankrupt would be able to have his bankruptcy annulled before the discontinuance of the District Court at Gisborne. It was eventually decided that Mr Davies should st once make application to the True- . tees for his discharge, in order to enable him ' to have the annulment of the bankruptcy confirmed before the time limited for the holding of the IDietrict Court in Gisborne. The meeting then dispersed.
