Mr A. Peters, of the Kaiteratahi Hotel, has started a line of coaches betM’een Kaiteratahi and Gisborne. During the summer months a more pleasant drive than from the tOM’n to Mr Peters’s establishment can scarcely be imagined, and as he has vastly improved his establishment a trip up in the afternoon and a ride doM’n in the morning Mould not alone be pleasant, but beneficial to the health of Gisborneites. In the country one gets rid of the dust and sand we find to be so objectionable, and instead of breathing dust, inhale pure fresh air. Between twelve and one o’clock to day, a dray, belonging to Messrs Direy and Johnstone, containing sundry baskets of beer and stout, together with three hogsheads of the best brew of this firms Mell-knoM ii and duly appreciated stock of the briny, was very nearly coining to grief. J ust in front of Kir J. Hall s coaclibuilding establishment, in Peel-street, the trap was going at a walking pace, which was a most fortunate occurrence, as Mr Hall called attention to the fact that the wheel was within an inch of coming oft. If the trap had gone much farther it would have been smashed to pieces, and no doubt some casualty would have occurred. \\ ith great difficulty a screw’-jack was procured, and the wheel placed in position, because in two or three more turns the wheel would certainly have been oft’. The young skipper who lately took out a party of ladies, should be content with “ hugging the shore.”
