CORRESPONDENCE.

We do not hoi i ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents]. :o: TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In your Wednesday evening’s issue I only asked a civil question about the want of a priest in Gisbornfe. Having made several enquiries from Catholics concerning the same, and could get no information, I took the Press as my only resort, not being acquainted with many of the Catholic persuasion here. Now, Sir, as I have said before I only asked a civil question and I expected a civil answer, but the individual who answers my question calls me ignorant. I think it shows ignorance on his part writin such an abrupt way. Well, perhaps as your correspondent seems to know so much there is not much left for me, but still it is far from a gentlemanly action writing in the way he has, and I think he might have kept his hair on and cooled down his temper by taking a cold bath. lam not a physician, but I think it would be well for this hotheaded individual who signs himself “Catholic.” Surely he must have forgotten that little proverb “ Let not angry passions rise.” I have a little more to say, if not intruding too much on your columns, and it runs thus : That it does not show a Christian spirit or brotherly love the way your correspondent has written ; its an old saying and a true one “ Where ignorance is bliss ’tis folly to be wise.”—l am, &c., C. M. King. Gisborne, 22nd December, 1882.
