The good folk living near Karaka, have decided to hold a Race Meeting on New Year’s Day, and have issued a very excellent programme. The names of the Stewards published in another column are quite sufficient to guarantee a very successful meeting. On Tuesday next, we are informed, the blanks as to the prize money, will be filled up, and we are assured that the amounts offered in each event will prove attractive enough to secure a large number of entries, and consequently of visitors. We have been requested to state that the Post and Telegraph Office will close on Boxing Day (Tuesday) as well as on Monday, except for one hour from 9to 10 a.m. The letter-carrier will make an early delivery of letters on Boxing Day morning so that no inconvenience may arise to the general public. The usual weekly mails from the South will also be sorted early ou Monday morning.
