Mr Guigley, on behalf of the St. Andrews Church Committee, thanks all those who so kindly and willingly assisted at the late “Olde Englyuhe Fayre.” The free exhibition given by the Rev. Mr Hill, at Parnell and Boylan's Hall last evening, was a great success, being not alone largely attended, but also well worthy of the applause given by ■ adults as well as the little ones. Views of London, and scenes in Egypt astonished and delighted the children. The funny pictures afterwards exhibited, kept the youngsters nighly amused, and even the parents were unable to keep a “stifl'uppev lip.” The singing of choruses by the school children was excellent. From Cairo, December 7, we learn by cablegram that the trial of the rebels is still proceeding. Th<j following prisoners have been condemned to exile, the death sentence passed upon them having been commuted by the Khedive :—Mahmoud Tehmy and Mahmoud Samy, formerly members of the Ministry ; Abdela 1 . one of Arabi’s colonels, and commander of t he rebel garrison at Damietta, Toucha Pacha, formerly Governor of Alexandria. An awkward accident happened at Hokitika to a youth named Tottenham, while fllaying a game of cricket. A ball flew off lis bat and struck him on the right side of I the nose. On being examined by Dr. Bakewell, it was found that both bones of the nose were frr etured, and the nose considerably dipslacexl. A sheep-grower says : —lt is folly to keep old sheep. 7i?hey should be turned off to the butcher in tlacir prime. It does not take half the amount tx> fatten them. When they get ola and thin, in order to put them in the condition to slaughter, the whole structure must be rebuilt. Four sets cf lambs are all that any ewe should bear.
