(BY CABLE.—REUTER’S TELEGRAMS). MELBOURNE, Dec. 6. The steamship Rotomahana, which started yesterday fcr the Bluff, grounded in the Yarra, and has not yet been got off. Part of the cargo is now being transhipped into lighters, and it is expected that slye will float off with to-night's tide. So far as is known she has sustained no injury. Wheat shipping in fair demand at 5s lOd to 6s, There is a moderate enquiry for malting barley at 3s 9d to 4s 2d. New Zealand oats are in good demand at 3s lid to 4s 3d for feeding qualities, and 4s 4d to 4s 5d for milling sorts. All the persons who were injured in the recent railway accident me progressing favourably. The weather is cloudy to-night, and it is considered doubtful whether the transit of Venus will be visible from Victorian stations to-morrow morning. The observation of the Transit of Venus from Melbourne station was successful. It was somewhat cloudy at sunrise, but the clouds cleared off before the critical time. Twenty-three good photographs were obtained. Observations at Gippsland station were not successful, as the weather w’as misty, and rain was falling. Messrs Goldsborough and Co., limited, report that at their wool sales yesterday, 4000 bales were sold. Greasy sorts realised from sevenpence to fourteen and three-quar-ters, and washed from 16d to 22fd. SYDNEY, Dec. 6. The strife of wharf lumpers has terminated, the men having agreed to return to work at their former wages.
