The trial of Mr William Hill on a charge of bein" concerned in the robbery of the Colonial Bank of Australia, at Reedy Creek, of which he was manager, in August last, was concluded to-day. In the Legislative Assembly last night Sir Bryan O’Loughlau made a statement regarding the Hawthorn collision, but deprecated any discussion of the subject at the present time. Mr Gillies made a lengthy speech, in which he insisted that radical changes ad’e necessary in the railway service, and declared that the political system of management had completely failed. Many other speakers followed, and supported Mr criticisms. Mr Bent. Commissioner of Railways, spoke at length, and defended the conduct of the railway department. A desultory discussion followed, lasting six hours. Mr Bent later introduced a bill for the better management of the railway, which was announced in the Governor's speech at the opening of the session. Arrived, this morning, the Union steamship Ringarooma, from the Bluff'. An inquest on the body of W. Thomas, who died from the effects of injuries received by the railway collision at Hawthorn, was commenced yesterday, but the enquiry was adjourned to the 13th inst. (
