The marked ‘ feature in the sales for the present season has j i been the attendance of a large number of ! buyers operating directly on behalf of 1 various Home and Colonial factories. The , middlemen and speculators have found themselves compelled to stand aloof. In the Legislative Assembly to-night Sir Bryan O’Lcughlin staged that he was willing to modify the Loan Conversion Bill and to provide three bills in its place, one for the ! loan of £3,800,000, one for inscription of stock, and one for a small loan, to be raised in the Colony for certain necessary public works. The House, it is understood, generally approves of the Premier’s amended proposals. This Day. The statement recently current that the Hon. W. J. At a late period of last night’s sitting in the Legislative Assembly, Sir Bryan O’Loughlcn’s motion fora modification of the proposal re loan conversion was carried, and the threatened crisis has consequently been I averted. SYDNEY, Nov. 16. In the Legislative Assembly to-night the debate on the second reading of the Land Act Amendment Bill was closed, and on going to division, the Bill was negatived by |43 to 33. In consequence of the result of I the division, the Premier, Sir Henry Parkes, moved the adjournment of the House and this was agreed to. It is generally believed I that the Ministry will resign in consequence ! of its defeat.
