SPORTING.

Morning GaJ-lops at Makaraka. This morning the course presented almost the appearance of a race day, and some exciting work was done, The most noticeable performance this morning was that of Seaboy, and by the style in which he got over the ground when with Kingask and Trovatore, gave evidence of the judgment exercised by his plucky owner in securing this stout and speedy son of old Dainty Ariel. Ericthonius, another “ Dainty ” also gave proof that he could foot it, and in fact gave the pair who went in company with him a thorough beating, but had a lot of advantage in the weight. Seagull did strong work and finished fast. This animal must be looked upon ns one not to be despised. Gisborne with his head turned in the opposite direction to that in which the horses usually go, did a two mile gallop in fair style, but allowing that to quote the old song slightly altered '* The old horse ain’t what he used to be.” Gundagai went two miles but not fast. The other horses calling for special notice were Kingask. who is a handsome well put, together animal, Trovatore, The Barb, Lucks All and one or two others. As you are pressed for space I will reserve further remark until to-morrow when your readers may rest satisfied they will hav*» true and reliable “ tips,” the information having been personally obtained, and not that acquired from conversations with others who are monetarily interested in the several events. If you are game to stand to me I promise faithfully to give the very best information I can, in order that the reputation of the Standard may be kept up, for accuracy in “ Tipping.” Hotspur.
