RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.—GISBORNE.
This Day [Before M. Price, Esq., R.M.] There were no criminal cases for hearing. Civil Cases. NICHOLAS & co. v. RaWIKI. Claim £lO. There was no appearance of defendant. Judgment was given for plaintiff for full amount and costs. TAYLOR V. BERRY, Claim £49, balance of account for work done. There being no appearance of defendant, judgment was given for full amount and costs, and £2 2s counsel’s fee. I). M. ORR V. BERRY. Claim £45 3s 4d on a dishonored promissory note. Judgment for full amount and costs. ALLANACH V. JURY. Claim £26 6s. Mr Kenny appeared for plaintiff, and Mr E. ff. Ward for the defendant. Mr Ward stated that he would consent to a judgment being entered up for the plaintiff. Judgment by consent for full amount and costs. NICHOLAS & CO. V. HONATAPU. Claim £47 7s 2d. Mr Nolan appeared for plaintiffs, Mr Kenny for defendant, Judgment for full amount and costs. PORTER V. GREENE. In this case Mr Kenny appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Nolan for the defence. Mr Nolan applied for an adjournment on the understanding that the defendant should pay the costs, which was granted. LEGGATT V. NASH. Claim £29 8s 6d, for medical services rendered. Mr Kenny appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Brassey for the defendant. The defence, which was advanced by Mr Brassey, was that the debt had not been contracted for the defendant. After hearing the evidence of the defendant, His Worship considered that under the circumstances he could not make an order, and therefore gave judgment for defendant with costs.
