Takapuna Race Meeting.
(PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The following entries were received last night for the Takapuna Races : — Hurdle Race—Ellerslie, Chandler, Whitefoot, Harkaway, Chiquita, Lone Hand, Angler, Tempest, Miss Walton and Tricotrin. St. Andrew’s Handicap—Nigger, Nebula, Katipo, Venture, Chiquita. Yubabill, Dewdrop, Lyric, Yatapa, Lone Hand, Fitzhercules, Lara, Merlin, Libeller and Angler. Steeplechase — Ellerslie, St.’S within, Chandler, and Harkaway. Champagne Stakes—Whitefoot, Chanticleer, Angler, Tempest, Tricotrin and Miss Walton.
C.J.C. Training' Notes. CHRISTCHURCH This day. Very little work was done on the course this morning. The best gallop was that performed bv Lady Emma, who went a mile and a half with Gitana, .and came home the last half mile with Legerdemain. Minerva also did a good gallop with If so, and the Poet yesterday. Salvage and Vanguard did a rattling spin, the former is still the favorite for the C.J.C. Handicap, and Cheviot is firm at 6to 4 for the Derby. There is verilittle betting doing.
