SPORTING.
Messrs Bloomfield and VVyllie having purchased the well-knovrn horse Foul Play from Mr Allan McLean, now announce that he will stand the season at Waerenga-a-hika. Of the horse it is almost needless to speak as his breeding is most fashionable, being by Traducer out of Fancy, the latter having in her veins the blood of some of the most celebrated sires ever imported to the Colonies. Traducer needs no praise from our pen, as his stock have proved themselves not only stout but speedy. Owners of good mares who have not already made arrangement, should lose no time in securing the services of this grand animal. The terms are moderate as will be seen by the advertisement which appears elsewhere.
The South Canterbury Jockey Club recently recommended the Committee to issue a ticket to any person subscribing two guineas annually, the said ticket to admit one gentleman and two ladies to all raee meetings held on the S.C.J. Club’s racecourse such subscription not to constitute membership ; also that members and life members be entitled to same privileges. We commend this step to our local Club, as we are sure a large number of tickets would be taken up, which would at once add to the funds of the Club.
