Before Mr G. L. Greenwood to-day an application was made by Mr Brasaey, on the part of Mr William Adair, to have Mr J. R. Davis adjudicated a bankrupt on a debt of £lO7. Mr Finn appeared for Mr Davies, and urged that the petition should be thrown out, as there was evidently collusion between the Southern Cross Company and the petitioner in bankruptcy. The Registrar, after hearing the evidence, poiutd out that in a previous case stroagei allegations had Leon set aside by the District Judge, and in the Appeal Court, therefore he must adjudicate Mr Davies a bankrupt. The “ New Zealand Times ” strongly urges that the telegraphic charges in New Zealand should be reduced to a halfpenny a word, with a sixpenny minimum, or half the present rate.

The following is a copy of an inscription on a tombstone Tu the churchyard of Wrexham “ Richard Kenriuk was buried, August 29th, 1684, ‘ bv the desire of his wife,' Margaret Konrick.”
