POVERTY BAY HOSPITAL.
A MEETIsn of the Poverty Bay Hospital Committee was held last evening at the Resident Magistrate’s Court-house at half past seven o’clock. There were present— The Rev. Mr M‘Ara, Messrs. E. K. Brown, McKay, Davies, Butt, Captain Chrisp and Dr Pollen. In the absence of the Venerable Archdeacon Williams, it was proposed, seconded, and carried, that the Rev. MrM‘Ara take the chair. Mr McKay, the lion. secretary, then read the minutes of the previous" regular meeting of the committee, which were duly confirmed. wardsman’s report. The report of the Wardsman for the month ending October 11th, 1882, was then read. It shewed that during the month four patients were admitted to the Hospital, six patients were discharged, and that one had died. The report also showed that cash to the amount of £l6 10s had been received from the patients. treasurer’s report. Mr E. K. Brown, the hon. treasurer, reported tint after paying all accounts due at the present time, there weuld be a debit balance of £63 15s lOd. This would be after the subsidy at present due by the Government was obtained. The sum in his hands at present amounted to £3O Ils 2d. After some discussion amongst the members of the committee, it was resolved to adopt the treasurer’s report as read, and await the result of the Hospital fete to take place on the 30th November next, St. Andrew’s Day, as it was anticipated that the amount obtainable from this source would make •' considerable addition to the Hospital treasury. Mr Brown also reported that Mr J. Townley had presented the Hospital with two iron bedsteads just arrived from England. The thanks of the committee were certainly due to Mr Townley for his gift. Accounts to the amount of £72 15s were then passed for payment. HOSPITAL FETE. Mr McKay, the hon. secretary, reported that replies had been received from the secretary of the Rowing Club and the secretary of the Oddfellows’ Society, stating that they would be willing to take, part in the procession on St. Andrew’s Day, the 30th November next. He believed that the churches were all willing to set aside one collection on the 26th November for the purpose of augmenting the Hospital funds. VISITING COM MITTEE. Messrs. Butt, Davies, Chrisp, and the Rev. Mr McAra were appointed a Visiting Committee for the ensuing quarter. LEAVE OF ABSENCE. It was resolved that Mr Chrisp, the wardsman at the Hospital, be allowed a holiday for fourteen days. THE LATE MR. KAY. It was resolved that the Rev. Mr McAra, Mr Butt, and Dr Pollen form a Committee to enquire into the will of Mr Kay, a patient who died in the Hospital recently. HOSPITAL FETE. A Committee consisting of the Rev. Mr. McAra, Captain Chrisp, and Mr Davies were appointed to look after the carrying out of the programme. The meeting then adjourned.
